✨ “How do you find inspiration?" ✨
This question came to me from a student, Andrew, one day in class. ⠀
⠀
Wow, what a big question. The only thing I know for certain - it is a process that is at once mysterious and methodical. ⠀
⠀
Since
that day, I've been thinking a lot about how I approach the process of
finding inspiration because it is so central to our work as designers.
⠀
⠀
Inspiration provides the juice, the forward momentum to kick off a project. It can also serve as a high level guide. ⠀
⠀
There
is no doubt, inspiration informs our design process which is unique
& personal. I think of this process as the secret sauce each one of
us offers the world. ⠀
⠀
As designers, we need to discover and develop our own process to consistently find inspiration. No one can do it for us. ⠀
⠀
⠀
Investing the time to question how you think about gathering inspiration is definitely time worth spent. ⠀
⠀
I just uploaded a brand new video to youtube where I'm offering 4 tips to maximize your potential for inspiration. ⠀
⠀
The
video goes way beyond obvious suggestions like "go to this cool
website" and digs into the heart of finding inspiration: offering up
tips that are a healthy mix of the woo woo and the tangible. ⠀
⠀
I
can't promise that you will feel all twinkly after watching the video,
but I can say, what I share has been honed and polished from 11 years of
working. ⠀
⠀
I hope you enjoy it and if you do, please share it with someone who might benefit.⠀
⠀
One
final thought, maybe you think of inspiration in a completely different
way to me... which is cool. I'd love to hear about it. ⠀
